Whether you're looking for something specific or casually exploring, we make it easy to find the items you want. You can search our marketplace using search terms or by browsing categories.
Search using search terms
You can search for a specific item or product by entering a term or phrase into the search bar. For example, you can search for an item by name, like "Nintendo Switch," or search for a type of product, like "video game consoles." Our search engine finds results by matching terms in listings and by extracting details from listing photos.
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap on the search bar.
- Choose from 3 search options:
- Type a search term into the search bar, then tap your device's enter button to submit your search.
- Tap a category pill (like Free or Saved Searches) to search by your preferred category.
- Tap one of your recent searches (if available) to quickly search for an item again.

- Visit OfferUp.com and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, click the search bar and type in a search term. Or, select one of your recent searches (if applicable) that appear below the search bar.
- Click the Search button (the magnifying glass icon) to perform your search.

Browse by category
If you'd prefer to browse items by category, you can select from our category menu options.
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the search bar, then scroll down to the Browse by Category section.
- Tap a category from the list, then choose View All to see all items in that category, or tap a subcategory to narrow down your search results.

- On the Home page, select from the categories listed at the top of the page (under the search bar), such as Electronics & Media. To see additional categories, click More.
- To select a subcategory, hover your cursor over the category, then select an option from the dropdown menu.

Sort your search results
After you perform a search, use the Sort tool to change the order your results appear in.
- On your search results page, tap the Sort icon (the up/down arrows) at the top of your feed.
- On the Sort pop-up, select how you want your results sorted: Best Match, Recent First, Closest First, Price: Low to High, or Price: High to Low.
- Tap Apply to save your Sort settings.
- On your search results page, click the Sort By dropdown menu at the top of your feed.
- Select how you want to sort your results: Best Match, Recent First, Closest First, Price: Low to High, or Price: High to Low.

Filter your search results
After you perform a search, use the Filter tool to narrow your results down to items matching specific criteria.
- On your search results page, tap the Filter icon (the horizontal sliders) at the top of your feed.
- On the Filters pop-up, enter your desired filters: Location, Delivery method, Price range, or Item condition. Filter options may vary depending on the category you're searching under.
- Tap See Listings to save your Filter settings.
- On your search results page, view your Filters in the left-side menu.
- Enter a Price Range and click Go to filter by a minimum or maximum price. You can also filter by Condition, such as New or Used.

Not finding what you're looking for?
If your search isn't returning the results you expect, try these in order:
- Check your spelling and try broader terms. Searching "Nintendo Switch" instead of a specific model or accessory name will return more results.
- Remove or loosen your filters. A price range, condition, or delivery-method filter that's too narrow can hide relevant listings — try clearing filters one at a time to see what changes.
- Expand your search location. See Searching in the wrong location? below.
- Try browsing by category instead of searching by term. See Browse by category above. Some listings are easier to find by category than by keyword.
Searching in the wrong location?
Your search results are limited to your current search area. If you're not seeing items you'd expect, your search location may need to change — for example, if you've moved, are searching while traveling, or want to see listings from a specific city.

Can't find the right category?
Some items fit into more than one category, or don't fit neatly into any. If browsing a specific category isn't turning up what you're looking for:
- Try browsing the parent category instead of a narrow subcategory — sellers don't always categorize consistently.
- Try searching by term instead of browsing, since search matches listing text and photos rather than relying on the seller's category choice.
Save a search to get notified
If you're regularly checking for a specific item, save your search instead of repeating it manually. Tap the Saved Search icon from the Home page to the right of the search bar.
