We know it can be frustrating to make the effort to meet up, only to have the other person not show up at all. We're here to help you navigate it if a plan falls through. Here's what you can do.
If the other person doesn't show up or stops responding
First, try sending a quick message through the OfferUp app to check in. Life happens, and they may just be running late or have gotten caught up.
- If they reply: You can work together to arrange a new meetup time — though deciding whether to reschedule is completely up to you.
-
If they don't reply: Don't be discouraged. You're free to move on:
- As a seller: Your listing remains active. Feel free to leave the chat and start reaching out to other interested buyers.
- As a buyer: There are plenty of other great options out there. Feel free to resume your search and message other sellers.
Reporting a no-show
No-shows are frustrating, our goal is to address reports like these. If you’ve been stood up, please report the user directly in the app so our team can investigate.
Follow the steps found in Report a user. When submitting the report, select They missed our meeting as the reason.
Tips for future meetups
- Keep communication in the app: We recommend keeping your messages and plans inside the OfferUp app. This helps keep your personal contact information private and allows our team to assist if a dispute ever arises.
- Confirm before you leave: Before heading out, send a quick message to confirm the other person is on their way. Only head to the meetup spot once they've responded.
- Check profile ratings: Before agreeing to a meetup, take a look at the other person's profile. Ratings and verified badges can give you a better sense of who you're meeting.
