Follow these steps to post an item for sale on OfferUp, using the mobile app or the web.
Tip
Make sure to follow our Posting Rules and Prohibited Items Guidelines when posting items. Any listing that violates our policies will be removed from our platform.
To post an item using our mobile app, follow these steps to create your listing.
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap Post in the bottom navigation bar.
- On the Post an item screen, complete the following:
- Photos and video (required — at least 1 photo): Add up to 12 photos and 1 video.
- Title (required): Include things like brand, model, color, and size — or tap the + icon in the Title field for an AI-generated suggestion based on your photos.
- Description (optional, but recommended): Tap the + icon in the Description field for an AI-generated suggestion based on your photos.
- Price (required)
- Category and subcategories (required — at least 1 category)
- Condition (required)
- Location (required — defaults to your saved location; tap Edit to change it)
- Tap Post to complete your listing and add it to the live feed.
If a required field is missing, you'll see an error indicating which field needs attention. Fix it and tap Post again.
Note
For the first 30 minutes, your listing will be visible to Premium users only.
Once posted, your listing appears in the live feed and you're taken to your listing's page.
To post an item using a computer, follow these steps to create your listing.
- Go to offerup.com and log in to your account.
- Click Post in the top navigation bar.
- On the Post an item pop-up complete the following:
- Photos (required — at least 1 photo): Add up to 12 photos.
- Title (required): Include things like brand, model, color, and size.
- Description (optional, but recommended)
- Price (required)
- Category and subcategories (required — at least 1 category)
- Condition (required)
- Location (required — defaults to your saved location; click Edit to update it)
- Click Post item to complete your listing and add it to the live feed.
