Deactivate or delete your account

You can temporarily deactivate or permanently delete your OfferUp account at any time, using our mobile app or website. These are very different actions with different consequences — read the comparison below before choosing either one.

Before you choose: deactivate vs. delete

Deactivate (reversible):

  • Your data — sales history, messages, ratings — is saved, not removed.
  • You can undo this anytime: just log back in to reactivate.
  • This does not cancel any paid subscriptions or stop billing — see Cancel your subscriptions below.

Delete (permanent):

  • All account data and history is permanently removed — sales, purchases, messages, payment methods, ratings, and more.
  • This cannot be undone. Deleted accounts cannot be reactivated.
  • This does not cancel any paid subscriptions or stop billing — see Cancel your subscriptions below.

Can't log in to your account? Deactivating your account requires you to be logged in — if you're locked out and want to pause your account rather than delete it, contact us for help. Deleting your account, however, doesn't require you to be logged in (see the Desktop steps under Permanently delete your account below).

Temporarily deactivate your account

Need a break from OfferUp? You can temporarily deactivate your account without losing any of your data. This is a great option if you're going on vacation or just want to pause your activity.

Mobile Desktop
  1. Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
  2. Tap Account in the bottom right corner.
  3. On the Account page, tap Account Settings.
  4. Under Privacy, tap Privacy Settings.
  5. Tap Account Deactivation / Deletion, then select a reason from the dropdown menu. If necessary, enter additional info into the Tell Us More field, then tap Next.
  6. Select Deactivate Account, then tap Next.
  7. Tap Deactivate Account to confirm.

You’ll receive an email confirming that your account has been deactivated.

Reactivate your account

You can reactivate your account at any time. Simply log in to OfferUp using your previous login credentials — email and password, or your Apple, Google, or Facebook account.

Logging in reactivates your account and restores your full account history, including sales, purchases, messages, ratings, and more.

Important

If OfferUp deactivated your account due to policy violations, you won't be able to reactivate it. If you believe this was done in error, please contact us.

Permanently delete your account

Deleting your account is a permanent action that cannot be undone. When you delete your account, all of your account data and history is permanently removed, including your sales and purchases, messages, payment methods, ratings, and more. Deleted accounts cannot be reactivated.

Mobile Desktop
  1. Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
  2. Tap Account in the bottom right corner.
  3. On the Account page, tap Account Settings.
  4. Under Privacy, tap Privacy Settings.
  5. Tap Account Deactivation / Deletion, then select an option from the dropdown menu. If necessary, enter additional info into the Tell Us More field, then tap Next.
  6. Select Delete Account, then tap Next.
  7. Select Begin Deletion
    • (Optional: choose Deactivate Instead here if you'd rather pause your account than delete it.)

Your account will enter the queue for deletion and you will receive an email from OfferUp confirming your request.

Cancelling your subscriptions

This applies whether you're deactivating or deleting your account — neither action cancels your subscriptions or stops payments on its own.

Cancellations Refunds

The only way to cancel your OfferUp subscriptions is through your app store. To avoid auto-renewing for another month, cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date.

To learn how to cancel your subscription, see the app store instructions for your device:

When you cancel, your subscription benefits continue until the end of your current renewal term, then expire without auto-renewing.

Important

If you have multiple subscriptions, you'll need to cancel each one individually through your app store.
