When you see a red dot on your inbox, it means you have new messages or new notifications waiting for you. Here’s how to check and clear your inbox to make sure it stays up to date.

Even if you don’t have new messages, the red dot can appear if you have unread notifications.
Step 1: Check for new messages
If the red dot is showing on your inbox, check to see if you have any new, unread chat messages. If the dot is indicating new messages only, it will disappear after you read them. Here’s how to check.
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap
Inbox.
- Tap on a new message to read it.
- Visit OfferUp.com and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, click Inbox > View All Messages.
- Click on a new message to read it.

Step 2: Check for new notifications
If the red dot is still showing after checking your messages, it means you also have new, unread notifications to review. Here’s how to check.
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap
Inbox.
- In your
Inbox, tap the
Bell.
- On the Notifications page, tap a notification to read it.
Tip!
Have a lot of unread notifications? Use the Edit feature to quickly mark multiple notifications as read or to delete them in bulk. This is a fast way to clear away the red dot.
- Visit OfferUp.com and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, click Inbox > Notifications > View all Notifications.
- On the Notifications page, click on a notification to read it.
- To delete a notification, select the checkbox next to it, then click Delete.
Once you read (or delete) all of your unread messages and notifications, the red dot will disappear from your inbox.
