OfferUp's Commitment to Sellers

We want you to sell with confidence on OfferUp. That’s why we're committed to supporting you and safeguarding your sales against abusive buying behaviors. We’ve got your back as you sell locally!

Commitment to local sales

It's great that you're willing to meet with local buyers, and we always want these interactions to go well. Here are some of the ways that we support your local, in-person sales.

  • We suggest vetted Community MeetUp Spots so you have safer public places to meet.
  • We leave your return policy up to you.
    • During a meetup, buyers can touch, test, inspect, and research an item’s validity before making a purchase. Once money is exchanged, the sale is final.
    • You do not have to accept returns, though we encourage you to consider it—this can keep your rating and reputation high.
    • If you do accept returns, make sure you’re specific about the time frame in which you would accept a return and clearly state your availability to meet up.
  • We make it easy for you to report buyers who act inappropriately during your meetups. To learn more, see How to report a user.
  • We work with law enforcement to investigate any reports of harmful or illegal activity that occurs during a meetup. To learn more, see Reporting a crime.

Report scams

We do our best to protect you from abusive buyers. If a buyer mistreats you on our platform or you suspect they’re trying to scam you, please report them to OfferUp so we can take the appropriate actions.
