Verifying your contact information

Verifying your contact information is important because it helps protect your OfferUp account by confirming your identity. It also earns you added benefits like profile badges which make others more likely to do business with you.

OfferUp will never share your contact information. For details, see Protecting your privacy on OfferUp. Additionally, other than sending verification codes, OfferUp will not use your phone number to call or text you.

Verifying your mobile phone number

To verify your phone number, complete the following steps in the app. Please note, we only support US mobile numbers.

1. Tap Account.
2. Under Account, tap Account Settings .
3. Under Phone, tap Add or Edit.
4. Enter your Phone Number, then tap Send Code.
5. Look for a text message containing a 6-digit verification code.
   • If you don’t receive a text, check that you entered your phone number correctly, then tap Resend.
6. Under Code Sent, enter the Code, then tap Verify.

Your verified phone number will show under your Account Settings. You’ll also see a Confirmed Phone badge added to your public profile.

Verifying your email address

To verify your email address, complete the following steps in the app.

1. Tap  Account.
2. Under Account, tap Account Settings .
3. Under Email, tap Add or Edit.
4. Enter your Email Address, then tap Send Confirmation.
5. Look for an email from OfferUp and click on the Verify my email address link to confirm.
   • If you don’t receive an email, check that you entered the correct email address, then tap Resend.
   • If you've already verified your phone number, you may receive a verification text instead of an email.

Your verified email address will show under your Account Settings. You’ll also see a Confirmed Email badge added to your public profile.
