About free listing limits

OfferUp lets you post a certain number of listings for free each month. The number of free listings you get depends on the category you’re posting in. This approach keeps the feed diverse for buyers, and gives all sellers a fair opportunity to showcase their items.

Free listing limits by category

The number of free listings available to you each month varies by category and is subject to change at any time. Currently, the free listing limits in each category are as follows:

Category Number of free listings per month
Cars & Trucks 1
Motorcycles 1
Appliances 15
Cell Phones & Accessories 15
Furniture 25
Jewelry & Accessories 25
Tools & Machinery 25
All other categories 200 (combined total)

You can post up to 200 free listings per month across all categories, except for those with specific limits (see table above). Posting in a category with a specific limit does not count against your 200 free listings.

For example, if you post a car, it will only count against your 1 free monthly listing in the Cars & Trucks category. It won't impact your 200 free listings in all other categories.

Your free listings refresh on the first day of every calendar month, so you always have new opportunities to post for free. Any unused free listings expire at the end of each month and do not roll over to the following month.

Keep track of your free listings

The app helps you track your free listing usage by alerting you when you have 1 listing left and when you’ve run out. You'll see the alert at the top of the Finish page as you complete the process of posting your item. The app alert will look something like this:

The alert says '1 free furniture post left'.

NOTE

If you share an App Store or Google Play account with family members, your free listings may be claimed by another user who shares your OfferUp account.

Buy more listings

When you run out of free listings for the month, you have 2 ways to buy more:

If you’re a business who’s interested in enhanced subscription bundles with additional features and support plans, complete the Seller Feedback Form and we’ll be in touch with more information.

If you’re an auto dealer who intends to post a large quantity of vehicle listings, or if you’re interested in additional advertising options with integrated tools and support, sign up to become a Verified Dealer.

Fee avoidance

Please be aware that attempting to bypass the listing limits or to avoid paying listing fees is strictly prohibited. This includes intentionally or unintentionally posting in an incorrect category or creating new OfferUp accounts to get around the listing limitations.

For example, if you run out of free listings in the Cell Phones & Accessories category, you cannot post a cell phone in another category (like Furniture or Other) to avoid paying a listing fee.

Any attempt to avoid fees is in violation of our Posting Rules and may result in the removal of your listing and/or further action being taken on your account.
