OfferUp is committed to maintaining an inclusive and respectful community. All listings must adhere to our Community Guidelines.
If you add a video to your listing, it must also follow the guidelines outlined below. These video guidelines explain what isn’t allowed in listing videos to help keep the marketplace safe and trustworthy for everyone.
Note
We roll out new features gradually, so some users get access before others. If you don’t see this feature in the latest app version, it hasn’t been made available to you yet.
Safety & Civility
We strive to create a safe space for buyers and sellers to connect. Content that threatens, endangers, or harasses others isn’t allowed.
- Violent & graphic content: Don’t post videos that show real-world violence, physical fighting, animal cruelty, or graphic injuries.
- Harassment & Bullying: Don’t use videos to shame, degrade, or harass others. This includes “call-out” videos targeting specific buyers or sellers for non-violent disputes (for example, lowball offers).
- Hate speech: We do not tolerate videos that attack or demean individuals based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
-
Privacy & personal safety:
- No Doxxing: Videos must not reveal personal information (such as phone numbers, home addresses, or license plates) of yourself or others.
Authenticity
Trust is the foundation of OfferUp. Videos should accurately represent the item or service being sold and the person selling it.
- Misleading content: Don’t use videos that misrepresent your item or service. This includes stock footage, “review” videos from other creators, or edited videos that hide defects.
-
Spam & fake engagement:
- Don’t post duplicate videos across multiple accounts or unrelated categories.
- Don’t post videos generated by bots or designed to artificially increase views or engagement.
- Impersonation: Don’t claim to be a representative of OfferUp, a verified business, or another individual in your videos.
Regulated and prohibited goods
All videos must follow our Prohibited Items Guidelines. If you can’t sell it on OfferUp, you can’t include it in a video.
- Weapons & dangerous acts: Don’t show, promote, or demonstrate weapons or dangerous items, including firearms, knives, or explosives.
- Drugs & controlled substances: Don’t show the use, sale, or production of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or vaping products.
- Adult content: Don’t post nudity, sexual activity, or sexually explicit items (for example, adult toys), even if blurred or censored.
- Illegal or regulated goods: Don’t include items that aren’t allowed on OfferUp, such as recalled products, certain medical devices (like thermometers), or animals (except through approved adoption services).
Commercial activity & platform diversion
Videos should be used to support buying and selling while on the OfferUp platform.
- Off-platform redirection: Don’t use videos to send users to other websites, apps, or social media (for example, “Follow me on IG” or “Buy on my website”).
- Multi-level marketing (MLM) & scams: Don’t promote “get rich quick” schemes, investment opportunities, or multi-level marketing (MLM) recruitment.

Our moderation team uses a combination of technology and human review to enforce these guidelines.
- Violations: Videos that don’t follow these guidelines may be removed.
- Account action: Repeated or serious violations may result in temporary suspension or permanent removal from OfferUp.
- Reporting: If you see a video that violates these guidelines, report it using the Report option on the listing or in messages.
