Feature benefits
The Community feed allows you to:
- Get local advice: Receive recommendations and tips from locals and hobbyists before making purchases.
- Share your knowledge: Contribute your expertise and insights to help others in your community.
- Build your reputation: Gain trust in your community by actively participating in discussions and offering helpful answers.
- Connect with your community: Connect with people who have similar interests and promote local events related to those interests.
Note
All Community content must follow our Rules for Community Discussions. Any content that violates these rules will be removed from the feed.
Post a question
To post a question to the Community feed:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the Community icon in the top navigation bar. You may need to scroll right to access the icon.
- From the feed, tap the Post a Question floating button.
- On the Post a Question page, type in your question.
- Optional: You can also add a description to give more context.
- Tap Post to add your question to the live feed.
Once you post, local OfferUp users will have access to read and respond to your question.
Reply to a question
To reply to a question in the Community feed:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the Community icon in the top navigation bar. You may need to scroll right to access the icon.
- From the feed, tap Add a Reply on any question.
- Type in your reply, then tap the Send button.
- To remove your reply, tap the 3 Dots menu above your reply, then tap Remove Reply.
Delete a question
You can delete any question that you posted at any time.
To delete a question from the Community feed:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the Community icon in the top navigation bar. You may need to scroll right to access the icon.
- Tap Questions Asked, then locate the question you want to delete.
- Tap the 3 Dots menu in the top right corner, then tap Delete Post.
Share a question or reply
If you liked a question or reply and want to share it with someone else, you can send them a link.
To share a question or reply:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the Community icon in the top navigation bar. You may need to scroll right to access the icon.
- From the feed, tap on a post that you’re interested in.
- To share the question with someone else, tap the Share button and select your sharing preference.
- To share a reply to a question, tap the 3 Dots menu above the reply, then tap Share.
Vote on a question or reply
Tell community members if you found a question or reply helpful by voting on it.
To vote on a question or reply:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the Community icon in the top navigation bar.
- From the feed, tap on a post that you’re interested in.
- To vote on a question or reply, tap the Thumbs Up (Like) or Thumbs Down (Dislike) button.
Get notified about new replies
When you get a reply to your question, you’ll receive an in-app notification.
To check your in-app notifications:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap Inbox.
- On the Inbox page, tap the Notification icon in the top-right corner.
- On the Notifications page, tap the notification to see the reply in the Community feed.
Tip
Want instant notifications sent to your device? Tap Turn on Notifications at the top of the Notifications page to receive push notifications. If you don’t see this button, you’re already enrolled. To learn more, see Managing your notification preferences.
Report inappropriate content or users
If you encounter inappropriate questions, replies, or users who violate our Rules for Community Discussions, please report them to us.
To report posted content or users:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the Community icon in the top navigation bar. You may need to scroll right to access the icon.
- From the feed, tap on a post that you’re interested in. From there, you may take the following actions:
- To report an inappropriate question, tap the 3 Dots menu above the question, then tap Report Post.
- To report an inappropriate user, tap the 3 Dots menu above the question, then tap Report User.
- To report an inappropriate reply, tap the 3 Dots menu above the reply, then tap Report Reply.
All reported content is reviewed to ensure compliance with our Rules for Community Discussions.
