To get paid on OfferUp, sellers collect cash in person or get paid through the app for shipping transactions.
Usually, a seller and buyer make a tentative agreement about the price before they meet. Then the buyer inspects the item in person, or has a person or professional help them check that the item is OK.
If the buyer is satisfied with the item, they pay the seller directly.
The standard way to accept in-person payment is cash. If someone asks you to take a check, cashier's check, gift card, or payment through an app other than the OfferUp app, politely decline. If the buyer's behavior seems suspicious, please help keep your community safe by reporting them.
If this buyer doesn't want the item, that's OK. There are many other buyers on OfferUp.
Selling shipped items
When shipping, sellers get paid through the OfferUp app. Learn about getting paid after shipping.
After you sell
When you've been paid, mark the item as sold. You'll stop getting people asking about it, and your buyer will be asked to give you a rating and reviews.
