You can change your location settings on OfferUp to help you browse, buy, and sell from anywhere in the United States.

Change your profile location
When you create an OfferUp account and log in for the first time, the app asks if you want to share your location with us. If you agree, the app estimates your current geographic location and saves it to your account settings.
Your city and state location shows on your public profile next to your username and profile picture. When you post items for sale, your profile location helps local buyers find your listing in their searches. It also shows them where your item is located on the map in case they want to meet up in person. You can change your profile location at any time.
Change your profile location in the app
To change your profile location in the app, complete the following steps:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- Tap your profile picture in the top right corner to access your Account.
- On the Account page, tap Account Settings.
- On the Settings page, tap Set Location. Or, if your location already shows a City and State, tap the adjacent Edit button.
- On the Set Location page, tap Get My Location to share your device’s current location. If you haven’t enabled location sharing yet, you’ll get the Set Your Location pop-up. Tap Enable, then allow OfferUp to access your device’s location. If you don’t want to enable location sharing, tap Enter ZIP Code to enter a zip code instead.
- Tap Apply to save your location.
Your new location will be saved to your account settings in the app and on the web at OfferUp.com. Additionally, your new location will display on your public profile immediately.
Change your profile location on the web
To change your profile location on the web, complete the following steps:
- Visit OfferUp.com and log in to your account.
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner to access your Account.
- Click Account Settings.
- On the Account Settings page, click Set Location. Or, if your location already shows a City and State, tap the adjacent Edit button.
- On the Set Location page, click Get My Location to automatically apply your current location. Or, click Enter ZIP Code to enter a zip code.
Troubleshooting: If you use the Get My Location feature and receive a “We can’t find your location” error, refresh the page and try again. Make sure you click Allow or Grant Permissions if your browser asks for your location. If that doesn’t correct the issue, manually enter a ZIP Code instead.
- Click Apply to save your location.
Your new location will be saved to your account settings in the app and on the web at OfferUp.com. Additionally, your new location will show on your public profile immediately.
Change your search location
Your search location determines what items show up in your feed. Set your search location to shop for items located within a certain distance from where you are. Or, you can enter any US zip code to shop for items available in a specific city (even if you’re not currently in that city). You can change your search location at any time. Please note, changing your search location doesn’t affect the location associated with your public profile.
Change your search location in the app
To change your search location in the app, complete the following steps:
- Open the OfferUp app and log in to your account.
- On the Home page, tap the For Sale tab if it’s not already highlighted. (This tab is selected by default when you log in.)
- Tap For You.
- On the Location pop-up, tap the city and state listed under ZIP Code.
- On the ZIP Code pop-up, tap Get My Location to share your device’s current location. If you haven’t enabled location sharing yet, you’ll get the Set Your Location pop-up. Tap Enable, then allow OfferUp to access your device’s location. If you don’t want to enable location sharing, tap Enter ZIP Code to enter a zip code instead.
- Tap See Listings to save your location.
Your app home feed will immediately update to show items for sale in the geographic area you entered. Please note, your new search location will only update on the mobile device that you changed it on. It will not be reflected on another device or on the web at OfferUp.com.
Change your search location on the web
To change your search location on the web, complete the following steps:
- On the Home page, click the Location icon (at the top near the search bar).
- On the Location pop-up, click the city and state listed under ZIP Code.
- On the ZIP Code pop-up, click Get My Location to automatically apply your current location. Or, click Enter ZIP Code to enter a zip code.
