Fraudulent job listings

OfferUp takes trust and safety very seriously. Occasionally we encounter individuals who seek to exploit users on our platform. In this case, an entity created fraudulent job listings on OfferUp.

The fraudulent listings included falsified job openings for the following employers:

  • Aquafina Water
  • Bud Light Beer
  • Decal Advert
  • Lyft
  • Nestle Pure Life Water
  • Nestle Water
  • Walgreens
  • Walmart

Actions you can take

If you have been exposed to this scam, here are some actions you can take to help protect yourself:

  • If you’ve received a reply message for one of the above fraudulent job listings or an associated website, please delete the message immediately and do not correspond with them further.

  • Do not provide ANY personal information to the fraudulent listings or an associated website, including your driver’s license number or social security number.

  • If you have already provided your driver’s license number or social security number, contact your financial institutions immediately so they can monitor your accounts.

  • If you’ve already sent a check or other payment method, we recommend you contact your bank immediately to have them stop payment. If the check you sent has already been cashed, we recommend you alert your bank immediately and report the fraudulent transaction.

We have removed the fraudulent job listings and are working to ensure this does not occur again in the future. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and hope you continue looking for your next job on OfferUp.
